Find your best marketing channel

Every founder eventually asks the same question: where should I spend my next hour and my next dollar? The honest answer is the channel that brings paying customers, not the one with the most clicks.

Why this matters

Traffic is vanity, revenue is the truth. One channel can send 10,000 visitors and zero customers, while another sends 200 visitors that cover your whole month. If you optimize for visits, you pour effort into the wrong place. Knowing revenue per channel tells you exactly where to double down and what to cut.

Why most analytics tools can't tell you

Classic analytics (Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom) are built around pageviews and sessions. They show which channel sent traffic, but tying that traffic to real revenue means wiring up ecommerce events, attribution models, or custom reports, and even then, untagged links pile up in a useless Direct/None bucket. Most founders never finish that setup, so the money question stays unanswered.

How DataFast does it

DataFast connects your payment provider and ties every payment back to the visit that caused it. Revenue shows up next to traffic in the same dashboard, no event wiring, no report building.

How to do it

  1. Install the script and connect your payment provider
  2. Set up revenue attribution, often a single no-code step
  3. Open your dashboard and look at the Source card: visitors and revenue per channel
  4. Sort by revenue to find your money-makers, and check revenue per visitor to compare channels fairly

Tag your links with ?ref= or UTM parameters so channels don't collapse into Direct/None.

Turn it into action

  • High revenue per visitor? Do more of that channel this week.
  • Traffic but no revenue? Stop investing, or fix the offer for that audience.
  • In a hurry? Ask the AI Analytics assistant in your dashboard "what's my revenue per visitor by channel?" for an instant answer.
